Give it all

Jeannie – i found your Bible Study late, wish I could have joined live. My story is that in May both my husband and I left our jobs, sold our home and all our belongings and began a new adventure. We have been in full time ministry for over 30 yrs but the Lord laid on our hearts the 22 veterans a day that commit suicide – NO HOPE. It became such a burden that we simply had to do something. Our son is Army and was hit twice by IED’s in Afghanistan, my husband is an Army Reserve Chaplain. We started Warrior180 (turning lives… Read more »

ANYTHING in Stormy and Calm Times

Dear Jennie, I put off reading chapter 20 because I didn’t want it to end! Each chapter I read spoke to me, even answering some questions that I had at the time or gave me comfort. I was amazed at how your words coincided with my life dealings and wrestlings! You’re a passionate person and that comes through more in the videos. Thank you for their deeper meaning, stories and examples! ANYTHING is Bold, Loss of Control, Freeing, Trusting, Obeying and Full of Love! I believe I started to pray this prayer before I read your book thanks to a Tuesday Morning Prayer Group! The… Read more »

Behind Closed Doors

My dear friend, Erin, and I just finished walking through the Anything study yesterday (finally). We are both moms, with three little ones a piece. These past two months have been an intense period of growth in faith and trust in God for each of us. And so far, God is showing us that our Anything will be first lived out in the little stuff behind closed doors–with our comfort, fears, husbands, children, approval. We are so thankful for this study: “a life changer” in the words of Erin. We are prayerful as we wait to see what Anythings God has in store for us…. Read more »

AfricaYAHWEH

At the Age of 60 and nearly 60 we are leaving our “safer” church positions of my husband’s Missions & Associate Pastorate (& I was recently women’s ministry & bible study director) both of us for the past 18 years, excited to declare our Anything. We are following Jesus in pursuit of partnering with African Pastors to plant churches that multiply. Therefore we will be following our passion of working full-time in Missions instead of part-time requiring us to taking a leap of faith to follow this new direction. We are looking forward to going to Africa, not our way, but YAHWEH!

Wrestling with Anything

“Finally, I decided that it was time to lay it all out. I don’t remember the day or the time, but I do remember that I was walking across a parking lot – probably Target! I said – okay God. I want your will for my life. I believe that the way to live a blessed life is to do whatever it is you want from me. I want your blessing on my life and I’m ready to lay down anything, even to the point of being injured, to receive what it is you have.” https://spotforthoughts.wordpress.com/2015/07/30/my-anythingstory/ *This photo is of the precious baby we’ve taken… Read more »

My Anything Story: Mary Odell

I don’t know if this is an Anything story yet or not, to tell the truth. I am actually just looking over the precipice of a rather daunting Anything. Last year, I went out of my comfort zone and put on a fundraiser for an organization that I just love. A little uncomfortable, but a great experience. Today, I got an e-mail from a friend who works for the organization (SheisSafe.org) asking me if I wanted to join her and a co-worker on a trip. To MYANMAR. In December. Oh, and I need to let them know within a week or two, if that’s possible…. Read more »

After all these years…

Our group has done a study together each summer for…about 8 years? God truly led us to Anything. We have never been stretched so much, changed so much and inspired so much. Women are letting go of control, hearing the holy spirit, saying yes to challenging tasks, moving out of old serving duties to make room for God’s direction in new ones, learning to be okay with being uncomfortable, and finally feeling a fire that we’ve been longing for for years; yes, years. It’s scary, exciting, challenging and totally different from anything we’ve ever felt at the end of our summers. We’re restless…and ready. Anything.

A Dream Come True

The last several years have been really tough for me. I lost my Dad, got a divorce, started working outside the home for the first time in forever and was basically disowned by my church. It was a trying time spiritually – I began to question much of what I was taught as a Missionary Kid growing up in Liberia, West Africa. Church attendance became sporadic at best, my circle of ‘friends’ shrunk drastically and I wondered if God might give up on me because of my sin. In the midst of this time, my best friend encouraged me to read Anything. As I read… Read more »

God is answering my “Anything” prayer!

I am helping to plan a prayer event at our local church! I am going to lead some of the prayers. I also blogged about the book “Anything” at www.faithcounts.wordpress.com/2015/08/09/book-review-on-anything/ and I am going to get up early every morning and start the day with prayer and worship songs. Maybe this doesn’t sound like fun to you, but I am loving this! God is sending me just where I need to go! He is telling me to pray more! We have an empty bedroom too that God filled with 2 boys from China for 17 days. It is empty again, waiting for God to fill… Read more »

Anything but This

I’m not writing this so that you can share it. I’m hopeful that maybe sometime in the future it will all make sense, and it will be a story worth sharing. But right now, today, I’m confused and scared, and my faith is wavering. A few months ago, I prayed Anything. I was feeling restless and hungry to know God more and I prayed it with all sincerity. Well, within just a few days, I was asked to step down from my leadership position in the ministry I had been working in and with for about 4 years. I took that as a sign from… Read more »

ANYTHING

My name is Jennifer Crist. I am will be a junior at Tabor College in the fall. I began this eight week study when it first began. I don’t remember how I heard of this book or how I happened to stumble upon this website, but next thing I knew I had pre-ordered a book and was ready to get started. I soaked up the words on the pages like a sponge. I always wanted to keep reading past the allotted chapters for that week. While in Arizona, on my family vacation, I wrote out my list of things I could give away for the… Read more »

Living life daily with open hands to God

When God gave me the word surrender along with the verse Galatians 2:20 I had no idea what God had in store for me. He’s been laying open hands on my heart for a long time. Over the last three years I lost my father-in law, my brother-in law to cancer. My Dad is currently battling lung cancer. I felt like grief was the only emotion I had. I’ve always thought the hardest part of the journey of life was losing people we love. I was running in every direction. To my mother in laws to help ease her pain. Then constantly to my sister… Read more »

letting go of a dream

I want to share the story of my sister-in-law, Janel. She has been married to my brother for almost 16 years and is the most wonderful sister-in-law anyone could ask for! In fact, we call each other “sisters” as neither of us grew up with a sister but feel like we are sisters now! She grew up in Oklahoma and my family grew up in Kansas. We both came from families who were extremely close and did lots of things together. When Janel married my brother, they moved to Maryland for 6 years where my brother was a youth pastor. It was hard to have… Read more »

Anything Can Happen Anywhere

My “anything” prayer happened in a credit union lobby, viewing security tapes. The image on the tape was shady, in more ways than one. He wore a hoodie pulled low over his brow, not surprising, since having anyone see his face would have been detrimental to his purpose. The tape was grainy, at best. Still, I could identify the vehicle, and its driver. Explaining this all to the security woman at the credit union felt like an out-of-body experience. Surely, this was not my pretty, suburban Jesus life. Yes, I said. I do know who the young man in the tape is using my debit… Read more »

My Anything

You asked the question, “What is your anything?” Let me answer as I tell you where I was the day I heard about a study called Anything. My Anything happened on a warm, sunny, summer day. A pile of dirty dishes stared back at me from the kitchen sink. A melody played on the radio nearby. I turned it off. I was tired of songs, yet tired of silence too. Tired of thinking…and praying, honestly, for my prayers were not being answered the way I expected. Instead of spiraling in my emotions, I called a friend. My closest one. The one I can not talk… Read more »
